Lost Filling / Loose Crown

Fillings and crowns can be lost or fractured at any time.

About This Condition

In some cases, fillings and crowns can partially de-bond and remain in place but allow bacteria to infiltrate underneath them and cause decay and infection. If this problem is left untreated, decay and infection may cause toothache.

What should be done when you realise a filling is broken or a crime has become loose?

Place the de-bonded crown or filing if a clean to bring to the clinic
Use antiseptic mouthwash to make sure the area remains clean until treatment begins

What happens when you come to our clinic?

First we will take an x-rays and check the extent of the problem.

We may clean the tooth and replace it with a new filling or prepare for a new crown

Yay! Finally found a good dentist in London. Dr. Germain does all the right checks (lymph-nodes, tongue and mouth check, jaw, etc) and her cleaning is the best I've had in London. She doesn't waste time trying to upsell you on things (this can be common in the US) but she'll answer all your questions and provide an opinion on options and cost and leave it with you -- which is great. Definitely my primary dentist now.
